Sara walked slowly around the edge of the lake, holding the thin, bright green leash easily in her left hand. She had to slow her pace so that the rabbit hopping at her side could follow. Dance was on of the only rabbits in the Stern Himmel Rabbitry that would walk on a leash, and Sara liked taking the Rex out. The double takes had a little bit to do with that, and the fact that it exercised the doe played a big factor. Sara stopped at a log that had fallen close to the water, sat down on it, and looped the leash over one of the branches still sticking up. She picked up the spotted rabbit that had walked beside her so nicely and held it in her lap, stroking the soft fur. This was her favorite place to take a break from the rabbitry, when all of the work was finished and sh had a bit of daylight left. It was warm enough out that sh could go swimming, she would have to bring her suit next time. Her rabbits all liked wading, and some, like Dance, even paddled out a little bit. Sara always kept them on a leash, though.
